When it comes to disappointment, making exceptions is always more dangerous than setting expectations. Acceptance plays a major role in happiness. Most people can’t find their joy because they don’t accept their mistakes. Happily ever after requires a lot more persistence than it does perfection. You have to want something enough to work for it. Don’t get discouraged by your past. When wisdom is found in disappointment, hearts find strength and a reappointment to Gods love. Your heart can only lead you where your thoughts direct it. You’re only helpless when you refuse to help yourself. Stop making exceptions for people who haven’t lived up to your expectations. Letting your guard down will never require you to let your standards down with it. Always be mindful of who you allow close to you because if you don’t make them work to get in, they’ll leave you feeling left out. Your standards are your standards; they shouldn’t be compromised for anybody. However, your expectations for how they will be met may need to be altered. You can’t expect a man with a plan if you’re a woman without one. You can’t expect a confident independent woman if you’re a manipulative dependent man. Keep your expectations reasonable and the exceptions you make at a minimum. If you don’t, you’ll only be letting yourself down. Don’t let disappointment intimidate you, the past is the past, learn from it in a way that builds you up, not breaks you down. You can’t allow yourself to be so focused on making the wrong decision that you overlook making the right one.
